Can fishes suffer? CONTROVERSY

Fishes DO FEEL PAIN, but not in the same way we do

As a matter of fact, fishes do have a nervous system. They respond to different stimulus, which would be painful to us humans, in ways that are seemingly painful.

For example, in the United States, since there are no active laws protecting marine life from human cruelty, it has been reported that some restaurants were skinning fishes alive. Having seen a video of it, you can see the fishes agitated to a point that it looks like agony while the chief skins them alive.

On the other hand, in some countries like Germany, there are severe laws against cruel treatments to fishes, proving that the controversy is real about wheter or not fishes to feel anything.

Theres alot of ways to think it through, alot of researches that can prove both points of views on the matter, but here is my way to see it:

Fishes do feel pain, as a defence mechanism since they aren't truly conscious.

For example, positive thoughts can make pain easier to manage for us. If you go to the dentist to get your wisdom teeth removed, he will start by stinging you in the mouth, which will be painful but since you know it's for a brief moment, you don't complain about it.

On the other hand, when we are hurt, negatives thoughts will amplify our suffering, making our body's stimulus truly painful. For example, If you are captured and tortured, it will obviously be extremely painful physically. Yet, the fact that you do not see the sufferings end, because of your reasoning, make the pain unbearable.

Fishes, unlike us, don't have those kind of reasoning. Their brains are a fractions of our's and their responses to pain are, perhaps, strictly mechanical. I believe our conscience is what make the pain unbearable to us, because if we suffered for a fraction of a second, we would not care about it. Fishes don't think that way. They are simply in pain for many compiled tiny moments of in consciousness which leads to seemingly painful reactions, that are strictly reflexes made for survival.

My percocets just worn off and I dont know what im typing anymore... don't listen to me. Fishes are great and unecessary pain is always evil and shouldn't be allowed.

It's sad that we could ever think killing animals is needed when we can live a perfectly good life with a plant based diet. Of course fish and most other creatures would feel pain upon their death. I don't eat any animal products any more and would encourage everyone to give it a go.

I'm going to give it a god for a period of time soon, see how I feel. Thanks for the comment!
