Do It For Forest: We have planted other 200 trees to restore Abongphen Highland Forest in Cameroon! -> each 11$ = 10x10 m forest saved

in nature •  8 years ago  (edited)

We have planted over 200 trees in to one destroyed water catchment at the Abonpghen Highland Forest during celebration of World Environment DAY 2017. We always try to involve the local community. Every other tree planting we are more successful. Finally over 70 people participated. Local farmers, Cameroonian Ministry of environment, our partner NGOs and us planted 7 different species of trees: prunus africana, newtonia camerunensis, cordia, vitex, podocarpus, carapa and maesopces.

What a great initiative that surely is! I think more of these initiatives are necessary to keep the planet in a good state. Glad to see that some people are taking steps to do so. Have fun out there and good luck with future posts!

thanks a lot @rymlen. Stay well

Good job! I'm following you, and looking forward to seeing more posts about this subject ;) I frequently write posts about conservation biology myself, but I mostly have a theoretical knowledge about it, so it's great to see some on-hands action here on Steemit!

Hey @valth@ Thanks a lot for your comment. Do you think is good idea to create FB page: Steemit for conservation? So we could get more attention of people who has not yet joined Steemit? We are really few here so need some reinforcement. i believe the easiest way how t oget more people interested about nature conservation is to bring them from other social networks. Or? Thanks again.

This forest was destroyed by GP-DERUDEP - cameroonian organisation which is sponsored by African Development bank. They have built road directly to watershed area. If we are not fast we could lose even the rest of the forest.

Very nice, trees are so important. It would be kind of hard to breath without the oxygen they and the oceans phytoplankton produce.

Thank you @lightplasher. As you said and for far more reasons we just need the forest to survive.

very good, I love the nature ☺
