Sun international hotel Lusaka's interesting semi-permanent residents

in nature •  7 years ago

In the inner courtyard of the hotel they have a water feature which houses some rather unique guests.

These are juvenile Nile crocodiles. I asked one of the guys around there a little more about the story behind these "guests".

They fetch them from the crocodile farm nearby as hatchlings and then they live in the pools there until they get too big, then they swap them out with some new ones and so the cycle continues.

The pools are full of fish that they feed upon.

These pictured below are feeding on one of their own that had died.

This croc is in very good condition and basks in the sun with its mouth open to regulate its body temperature.

@mandela the croc is well taken care of. I like to see wild animals.

Watch out for that croc! Hopefully the fish have enough space in their enclosure.

This is interesting and amazing post. It is great and fully cut.

Sounds scary to have a crocodile around there...... They might just get out of control someday
