During my time in the Cali desert I always looked forward to finding one.. unfortunately never did.
Guess they always show up when you don't expect them to..

    Yea, often they are under large rocks or dens during the day. As it gets warmer here they come out to sit on the cooler grass of the golf course. In that way golf courses tend to concentrate the snakes. Plus there are all kinds of rodents and reptiles all around the golf course making for an abundance of food.
