Strawberry Reservoir is a pretty special place. It is listed as a blue ribbon fishery, meaning theres a pretty great chance you'll catch a good sized fish. It holds Rainbow trout, Kokanee salmon, and Cutthroat trout. (I'm sure there are others, but I haven't caught them yet)
Not very many trees around the lake, but its still beautiful
A few early morning boats out to get their catch
This is about the average size of Cut you are likely to catch. They have a mandatory release rule between 16-22 inches. This guy was about 19 or so. This trip was in early fall. The elevation if Strawberry is quite high, so its almost always at least a little chilly there, plus the wind starts blowing every day around noon until around 4-5. Something to keep in mind.
Here are some pics of a trip I made a little while ago, in which I landed the largest cut I've caught there.
The buildings across the lake are part of the main marina
this is my biggest catch on the 'berry
27 1/2 inches, approximately 5 pounds
(most of the fish I catch are released as unharmed as possible, and I use barbless hooks to limit any damage. I will occasionally keep a smaller one or two for dinner, but I like to put the bigger ones back to let someone else have a chance of catching them)
