"Adenium obesum or Rosa del Desierto is one of the most popular succulents in the world for its beautiful flowers and morphology. On many occasions we buy some and it takes us years to blossom. In this article we offer some tricks that will shorten this time to achieve blooms in less time; In this way we can enjoy the unparalleled beauty of its flowers faster".

With these simple tips you can help your Desert Rose or Adenium obesum bloom.

1- It is extremely important direct exposure to the sun throughout the day regardless of many times, how strong it is. Just give a few hours of shade on extremely hot summer days. Sunlight is essential in the reproductive activation of the plant.

2- The irrigation that should be every 5-15 days depending on the dryness of the substrate, should be accompanied with small doses of special liquid fertilizers for succulents and succulents. Fertilizers should be used at half the dose proposed by the manufacturer. Organic fertilizers such as the popular banana tea can also be used.

3- Most Desert Roses are offered in nurseries with a single central stalk long enough to form flowers. We have managed to encourage flowering by pruning the central stem, that is, after cutting the stem the branches will form flowers without fail. We have compared (the delay of the plants in forming flowers) between one with a single stem and another pruned and its ramifications: The plant of the central stem blooms approximately 6 months after the one that was pruned.

4- Control any type of pests such as fungi, cochineals, aphids and mites. Pests are responsible for repressions in the blooms of most plants including the Desert Rose.

5- Avoid damaging the apical end where the leaves are formed during the manipulation of the plant. In this extreme the flowers will form and if they are damaged, the plant will delay in repairing them and consequently the flowering will be delayed.

6- Keep the leaves free of dust or any other substance that interferes with the capture of light. Every 3 days we must pass a soft and damp cloth to clean them. Photosynthesis must be carried out optimally.

7- Take care of the cold because it can suppress flowering and damage the plant. The species needs warm environments to flower (Temperatures above 20 ° C).

All these tips will only take effect on plants with 15 cm or more in height because with smaller sizes, they are not mature enough to form flowers.
