A gentle breeze swayed the delicate twigs of a young ash tree. Over the summer, weeds grew thicker and thicker, and the area was overgrown with bushes. The tree boldly held out its largest branch, like a fist, to say hello from the hideous foliage.
A butterfly hid on this very branch, under the most luscious green leaf. Her wings were pulled together so closely that only the black underside was visible. She sat motionless, her antennae thrown back, as if she were lifeless. She appeared to be lulled by the swaying leaf.
Butterflies are such appealing creatures that even those who dislike insects are drawn to them. While much has been written about butterflies, it is still possible to learn something new about their lives or to describe new species every year. So that this photograph does not conjure up a dull image of butterflies, I will focus solely on some details about their lives.
The most significant decoration of butterflies in the minds of the public is their wings. Legends of butterflies are based on their multicoloured iridescent wings, and they are portrayed in paintings and tattoos as the personification of the human soul. There are, nevertheless, wingless butterflies. Is it not unbelievable?
