I love dragonflies
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I HATE MOSQUITOES, so how can you not love dragonflies who love to munch on mosquitoes.
I know these pics are not great, but I was amazed to see a red dragonfly today at work. I have never seen one in real life. I understand they are in Europe, but I am in SW FL USA.
It does suck that they eat butterflies though.
I have dedicated a FB page to dragonflies, kind of a tribute to these wonderful insects. I don't post much to it, but what I have posted makes a nice page ...

Oh, and I have a cell phone case that's a dragonfly... it's as beautiful as a dragonfly. It's a wallet/case and so soft... it is tons nicer than the pic.
It amazes me how efficient dragonflies are at what they do, bringing in close to 95 percent of the prey they set out to capture. For comparison, sharks, one of nature’s fiercest predators, only manage to catch about half of the prey they hunt.
Their visuals could be considered superpowers by any human standards ... they are so fascinating in so many ways.
sorry, this one is blurry, but still shows the 'rare' red dragonfly
they like water ... ponds and such with sticks they can land on and rocks on the edge, they like to warm up by basking in the sun on rocks. I have a garden pond now and seem to have more dragonflies then before when I didn't have the pond.
If you want dragonflies around your yard, DO NOT USE PESTICIDES which kills off their prey and could also kill them.
I have never seen a red dragonfly thanks for sharing it

I thought I was the only one that never saw a red dragonfly. Didn't even know red ones existed. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡ -)
