A dragonfly spends most of it's life as a nymph, which stays unnoticed by most.
The three stages of a dragonfly include, the egg, the nymph and the adult dragonfly.
The egg is layn attached to a waterplant just under the watersurface.
When the egg hatches the dragonfly will continue it's life as a nymph, which can take up to 4 years,
when in spring the nymph moves out of the water, it will metamorphosize into an adult dragonfly leaving it's former exo-skeleton clung to the plant it climbed up on.
And become this wondrous flying insect.
