The world was not created for humans, there is no invisible sky super-intelligence that gave us a divine right to destroy the only planet humans will ever inhabit. Logically, we can't possibly be more important than the hundreds of keystone species we have or are rapidly extincting, since we will also all die in the human induced eco-collapse.
In addition to all the human caused catastrophes covered by news media, there is a more insidious impending systemic collapse: trace mineral depletion of the soil that feeds us. Plants deliberately extract a balance of mineral nutrients unique to each species, for their own well being, of course, but also in part to supply mammals with all they need to grow, reproduce, and compete against parasites and pathogens.
This means that if our agricultural, livestock, and human wastes are not returned to the crop soil, our food chain will develop deficiencies of vitamins, minerals, bio-flavenoids, anti-oxidants and immuno-support complexes. ALready, foodstuffs on supermarket shelves in the US have lost 75% to 100% of their NUTRIENT DENSITY, hence the term "empty calories: which now also applies to fruits, berries, and vegetables.
This is also why since the 19th Century we have had to use increasing amounts of chemical fertilizer and agricultural poisons: insecticides, herbicides, vermicides, fungicides, anti-baterials, and anti-virals - and the latter four are needed for our livestock and ourselves occasionally.
