It is an arachnid, yes, but not a spider. Look up harvestmen. Notice the legs all connect to the body? They don't have an abdomen like spiders do. They are one of around 10,000 or so different species of Daddy Long Legs. We have them here where I'm at too. Some can get big enough to have a leg span as big as your hand.
