It took me decades to catch my first one of these.
It wasn't until after I was married that I finally was able to catch any species of softshell turtle. Since then I've captured plenty of individuals, but this one was located and caught by Pinkie-Pepper! Thankfully, she allowed me to photograph it.
Soon, we will have a new episode of "The Wild-Man's Wild Friends" coming out, so you'll get an opportunity to learn all about it soon enough. For now, please enjoy the photos.

I just am amazed by all the turtles you photograph - there are turtles here in Costa Rica but I don’t come across them often. There are little grey river ones and the big sea turtles who come to the beach to lay eggs but you have such pretty and varied looking it’s wonderful

I remember seeing those softshell turtles in my reptile field guide books growing up but I've never encountered one in the wild.
Beautiful photos. He looks so young and clean; I guess the softshells aren't prone to growing algae wigs on their backs like some of the other aquatic turtles I've caught.

hey @papa-pepper that is a very interesting turtle specie, I had never seen it before. His elongated nose is a trait i had NEVER seen in another turtle before. I can also see that it is very small, that's because it's a baby? or is that is the average size of that species?

This is the first ever soft-shelled turtle I have seen, so thank you to pinkie-pepper for allowing us a closer look at this cute little fellow. I am looking forward to hearing more about his species on "The Wild-Man's Wild Friends" video!
