THE "STINKPOT" - ONE OF MY FAVORITE TURTLES

in nature •  6 years ago

Sometimes, people will ask me why something is my "favorite."

The best answer, and most honest, seems to be "because I like it more than all the others." Such is the case with the Musk Turtle, also known as a Stinkpot. We had them up in Wisconsin, but I was never able to locate one in the wild. Here in the Ozarks, they are easier for me to find. This little guy (and they are all pretty much "little") was found trying to cross the road, but he was hidden in his shell and not making much progress. Thankfully, there was no roadkill in his future. We're hoping to get our pond up and running for him to inhabit.

That's one neat little turtle. I've not seen one with my own eyes.
