THE WORST CAMOUFLAGE EVER

Hiding is not easy for a black squirrel in winter!

While looking out the back window over at the home of @grandpa-pepper today I saw this black squirrel running around. Compared to the white snow, there was quite a color difference, and the squirrel sure stuck out! I realize that the color is not meant to be camouflage, but it is still funny to think so.

BLACK AND WHITE

Here are a few photos of the squirrel doing an excellent job of not blending in with the snow, and some of it doing a somewhat better job when it is near the melted patches. These were taken at a great distance, but some still look pretty good.

HAPPY AND HOPPING

Here are some fun shots of the squirrel jumping and hopping around. Some of the poses seem rather fun and interesting. Enjoy!

WHEN YOU FINALLY REALIZE

At this point I think that the squirrel realized it would have to try to hide harder, since its camouflage wasn't working. If it hadn't peeked out from behind the rock, it may have worked. LOL!

Until next time…

Fun post. He did pretty good for the circumstances. Sometimes squirrels like being a devils advocate so he may have enjoyed the game of hide and seek.

its indeed a camouflage..lol thanks for this too @papa-pepper

I do see one in my compound here in Nigeria. Like you said, the colour contrast (Black vs White) makes it obvious. By the way, the pictures are so beautiful and crisp.
Regards,
@marpemusic.

Thank you! It does make it obvious!

papa-pepper please uvpot me once papa-pepper plis i need help from you papa-pepper

That's spamming my friend

Wouldn't wanna be this little guy right now

Wow! First time to see a pure black squirrel!

We even have some white ones up here.

Really! That was very rare!! The squirrel that I know is mix of brown and white or black and white. But the common that I know is the color white stripe at the back of the squireel.

So true @pepper
Black and white are contrasting colours and black is usually very obvious.
I guess the black colour those animal posses makes them visible and so obvious during winter.
Lol......i guess this is the period they are much careful and scared of their predators.
Its a cold morning over here
Good morning sir.

Smiles
Lovely photography and funny act by the squirrel.
Good morning sir!

Black squirrel... My first time of seeing such. What's common here is pink colored types... All the same beautiful pictures.

@eurogee

Squirrel is an amazing animal, the way it was jumping on those pictures it looks amazing

What is this feeling? Why that squirrel is alone? It must be hard for him to be outside with no squirrel friends.

That’s adorable. The first time i saw a black squirrel I thought it was a cat! I have three black cats, and that squirrel was so fat i thought for sure he was too big to be a squirrel.

very beautiful and very cool friends

Good post.....

very nice photo, that squirrel is jumping a great photo

This squirrel may be more frightened, because you do not know where to hide when you see it @papa-pepper.
whether this black squirrel lives in a cold area.
because in our place there is no black squirrel.

Indeed, the color contrast between the squirrel and the white snow does not help it at all to hide, and where the snow is already melted it could easily be unseen. Beautiful pictures and this playful squirrel is probably looking for food. I like your post and the pictures went out very well.

That's very cuute. Hehehe :) :) I haven't seen a squirrel in real life yet. We don't have squirrel in the Philippines :D

Cool contrast against the white snow! I was fishing in a lake in Illinois and in the middle of the lake is an island inhabited with all white squirrels.

There are a few white ones here in central Wisconsin. Might try to get a shot. Also, @paradise-found recently found some white deer too!

Will check out the deer @paradise-found. I have come across partial and fully white deer while in Virginia.

Great shots of the black flash. I have one here for the first time. Get excited every time he comes by.

good post.
what is the key so that our post many people visit it

How cute is he!? Ive never seen a black squirrel. When I attended WKU years ago, there were several white squirrels.

I love squirrels and their antics. This one is, um, slightly conspicuous, yes, I hope it doesn't get eaten.

Lovely! So grateful we are past the snow part here!

The poor little guy was just trying to enjoy some sun! He does look cute doing his little hop, skip and jump. But he sure is a target against the snow.

As I was scrolling through your images I was expecting a hawk to pluck that morsel off the snow.

So much for hiding small guy 😁😂😂
