Storms had been tracking down from the NW on this day which is an usual direction for Brisbane. This was the second huge cell for the day which lit up magnificently as the sun went down behind me.
This cell was so big people were photographing it on the Gold Coast and Toowoomba, both over 100kms away.
As it reached Brighton where this was captured it literally got above me and then turned hard NE out to sea and up towards Bribie and the Sunny Coast where it was recorded dropping 30,000 lightning strikes per hour.
It's been pretty slow season this year around Brisbane, hopefully we get one of these before seasons end.
Scary but beautiful.
