Amazing nature, wonderful dry season(winter) determiners.

Interesting nature has had a way of teaching people in the days of the old and seemingly we can still very much learn from its changing patterns. However, as the dry season(winter) approaches especially there are basically some natural indicators being both plants and animals that the season is just by the corner.

-Firstly, with plants the twig tree uniquely starts by dropping its leaves. This is because during this period, water availability will be low and as such it is in bit to reduce the rate of water loss by means of transpiration.

The tree will just shade off its leaves throughout the whole of the dry season and the leaves will only start to shoot at the beginning of rains.
-Also, as concerns animals (insects) such as butterflies and dragon flies which uniquely also indicates that this said period is by the corner.

Their presence in abundance is a clear indication as well as butterflies contribute in pollination. For butterflies, they are complete metamorphosis and often evolve from laying of eggs-larva-caterpillars- pupa- butterflies.

• Again there are increased flocks of hawks and kites as the bushes will become more thin as to enhance their hunting abilities since they mostly feed on rodents and insects.

  Breeding become common among them as there is plenty of safety for their young ones since there will be little or no rain during this period. Also the Cattle-egret do migrate following change in dry season.
• There availability of reptiles such as snakes is another dry season indicator as they prefer hot and dry weather as oppose to cold , heavy and rainy periods.
  They are more active in warm weather but in the dry season may move to damper areas in search of food. Therefore, nature is really wonderful as such we should endeavor to have it preserved. In this way, our parents or grand parents in the village following this observations for a long time will just observe and tell us what is to happen, what time it is etc, and this is often very enjoyable and interesting.
