The earth contains vast supplies of water with properties essential for life. It is more abundant than any other substance. As such we need to do everything possible to sustain this substance by protecting our natural environment, free of pollution. Among its many advantageous qualities is that they occur as a gas, ( water vapor), liquid (water), and solid (ice) all within the earth's temperature range.
Water is a transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance, which is the main constituent of Earth's streams, lakes, and oceans, and the fluids of most living organisms. It is vital for all known forms of life, even though it provides no calories or organic nutrients.
Furthermore, the thousand of raw materials that human, animals and plants need must be transported in a fluid such as blood or sap. Water is most ideal for this because it will dissolve more substances than any other liquid.
Without this water, nutrition could not continue since living organisms depend on water to dissolve the substances on which they feed.
Water amazingly is also extraordinary in the way it freezes. As water in lakes and oceans, and seas cools, it thus become heavier and sinks. This forces the warmer, lighter water to rise to the top significantly. Yet, as it approaches the freezing point the process reverses altogether.
When it freezes into ice, it floats and ice acts as an insulator that keep the deeper waters underneath from freezing thereby protecting marine or aquatic life. This process however helps in keep water in constant check so to avoid a situation of continuous ice formation.
Furthermore, it worthy to note that even regions or areas further away from oceans, rivers, seas, lakes still do get water to sustain activities in these areas, water an extraordinary substance indeed. Thus the way we manage our environment will determine whether we will be able to contain this substance in due time. Let us strive in protecting our environments so as to ensure the availability of this wonderful substance.
This is to avoid situations in future where we might be tempted to be drinking plastics with will be injurious to our health, as plastic waste continue to be on a high increase in getting into the environment as we are not ready to collect them or adopt better approaches in its management.
