The Abert's towhee (Melozone aberti) is a bird of the family American sparrow and native to a small range in southwestern North America, especially the lower Colorado River and Gila River watersheds, near about endemic to Arizona. However, It is also present in small parts of California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, and Sonora in Mexico.
The name of this bird commemorates the American ornithologist James William Abert(1820–1897).
Their family belongs to Family of New World Sparrows and majority of the habitats are situated in Desert streams, brush, mesquite. Moreover, they are found in dense brush near water in arid lowlands, as in stream-side thickets, edges of ponds or irrigation ditches, under story of cottonwood-willow groves, even riverside marshes.

Also, In some of the areas (such as around Phoenix), they come into yards in well-watered suburbs.
Besides this, They are overlapping in habitat with Canyon Towhee in some places, but Abert's stays closer to water in dense cover, avoiding dry open hillsides.
