Papaya trees are generally unbranched or slightly branched, growing to as high as 5-10 m with leaves that form a similar spiral in the upper trunk of the tree. The leaves pinnate five with long stems and holes in the middle. The shape can be nice or not. Papaya cultivars are usually deep inside.
Fruits form round to elongate, with the tip usually tapered. The color of the fruit when young green is dark, and after ripe light green to yellow. The shape of the fruit is rounded when it comes from female plants and elongated (oval) when produced by a transvestite plant. Sissy plants are preferred in cultivation because they can produce more fruits and larger fruits. The flesh comes from a thickened karpela, yellow to red, depending on the variety. The middle of the fruit is hollow. The seeds are black or black and wrapped in a layer of slime (pulp) to prevent it from drying out. In cultivation, the seeds to be replanted are taken from the center of the fruit.
