Half Moon Bay - Tide Pools

Very stylish home for this small hermit crab.

We visited Half Moon Bay yesterday. It is quite unique because you can walk out to pretty interesting tide pools at low tide. Sea anemones, lots of shellfish, crabs, live coral, all accessible without diving or snorkeling. Unfortunately, the harbor seals staked out their position near the best tide pools. Harbor seals are protected on this beach and you are supposed to stay 300 ft away.

At high tide, the ocean will cover this beach almost all the way to the bluffs.

Nice photographs @steven-patrick. looks like you had an interesting walk.

My favourites are the coral and the hermit crab. is that the thing that looks like a snail? 😊

Yeah he is living in the snail shell. He was a bit camera shy so you only see the shell. Oops :)

It's a nice photograph anyway @steven-patrick. i like the composition and there's lots of variety and interest in it. I only asked because I don't know what a hermit crab looks like. 😊

It was a very fun day. It was challenging getting photos because so much of the cool stuff was underwater and didn't photograph well.

Maybe you could try on of those disposable underwater cameras next time. That might be fun! 😁

Cool photos, thanks for sharing !

Thanks @rentmoney. It was a good time.
