Yellow Garden Spider sets up house in my Tree Peony

in nature •  7 years ago  (edited)

I have started trimming back some of the flowers now that fall has arrived. I went to trim the seed pods from my peony tree until I saw this lovely lady sitting smack dab in the middle of the bush. Needless to say, I backed off to leave her alone, as I did not want to disturb her beautiful web. I can hardly believe the size of these common garden spiders, they are enormous, well to these parts anyhow. She's a beauty!

A few days later I went to see if she was still there and found this egg casing securely attached to the branches, and it is still there after 2 weeks unchanged. Oh my am I going to have a lot of little babies.

Thank you for stopping by my post, I hope you enjoyed it.

Omg, fall has arrived? I live in Seattle and although it's still warm, it'll be fall here as well before you know it.

Great shots of the spider and its casing!

Thanks, fall weather is already upon us and leaves are starting to change a tiny bit. The gardens are done for the most part too. September changes everything for us in NY

Oh my what a long legs! And she is a beauty :) Not that I would want to see one on my plants... but she is ;)

Needless to say I was a bit surprised and let her alone, the baby casing is still there too! Yikes!

Oh boy... have your camera ready, but they will be cute and tiny baby spiders...
Loooooots of them :D

Wow! Really great pictures. We call them zipper spiders. It does look like you will have a lot of baby spiders running around there. I read once they make a long trail with their web and float off in the air. Would be crazy to see!

Oh my, I think I will be over run by spiders. The web is gone and I don't see her, but the baby sack is left in place. We shall see what transpires

Do post pics if you see anything! :)

Looks like you are going to be a grandmother to a couple hundred eight leggers.

Oh my goodness a couple hundred, I won't be able to garden... lol

awosome captures...

Thank you @nilim she was a big spider and so pretty too!

Where is this common?? Amazing yet terrifying

They are actually common all over the USA

wow awesome pics of it

Thank you very much

Very nice post . Good photography.

Thank you very much, so glad you enjoyed the spider post

Oh, I hate spiders, but love photography, and I would have flipped out if I found something like this in my garden (after I'd taken pictures of it)! But, awesome shot! You really captured the colors and details of the spider! Great job :) Following and upvoting you for more :)

Thank you very much, I almost screeched when I raised my head to find her above me. lol I left her alone, after I took pictures, which was a little unnerving seeing how I had to get so close to the spider. Thank you for the follow @ kristinbr
