A Big Tree Lizard- Rarely Seen Broadhead Skink with a Big Head

in nature •  7 years ago

A big red-headed lizard came down from the canopy, and was nearly eaten by cats.

This lizard must have come down from the trees for a couple of pictures: the Broadhead skink is rarely seen, and stays up in the canopy most of the time. This one was about eight or nine inches long (200 centimeters), and a cat had nearly captured it before I came along.

There are lots of little skinks around this area, but this is the first time I'd seen one of these Broadhead skinks-- it's much bigger than the usual ground dwelling lizards around here.

thanks for looking at my lizard pictures, things start to come alive around here during these warmer days, and more wildlife pictures will be coming soon, but this big red-headed skink needed it's own post.

We called that big lizard bangkalang😃

That sounds like a good name for it, I like it.

Thats salamander in english😃

There are some big salamanders around here too, this creature is pure reptile.

very nice skink :)

It was a nice skink, it was a new one for me.

Now that is one weird looking lizard/reptile/amphibian.

It looks prehistoric as can be-- I'd never seen one, or even heard of this reptile before.
