Where Botany, History, and Art Meet- Another Adventure in The Botanical Gardens: This Time In St. Louis, Part 2

in nature •  8 years ago  (edited)

Everywhere in this sprawling park had all sorts of amazing plants, but by far my favorite place to experience was the Shoenberg Temperate House. The Temperate House smelled so incredible and house an incredible mosaic walkway. It housed several biblical gardens which was interesting to learn about and probably why it smelled so good: Olives, Figs, Frankinscence, Crown of Thorns, , and had all sorts of succulents, including a massive Aloe plant. The pitcher plant garden was one of my favorites there, too.

Everything hear fulfilled the senses delightfully. The sound of the fountain, the taste and touch of the cool, fresh air, the sight of the gorgeous mosaic tile, and the smell of all of the foliage was just incredible.

Unfortunately I didn't have a banana for scale, but in the picture above I am 5'4" standing directly in front of it so it was easily 4' tall.
