And for our last stop: The Linnean House
We both wanted to continue our adventure but we were running low on energy and knew we had to get back home (over 3 hours away) at a decent hour so our furfamily didn’t get too comfortable in our absence. There were so many things we didn’t get to see, such as a huge maze garden and the koi feeding bridge. It only settles our resolve to go back again in the future, however. On our trek back to the visitor center we passed serene creeks, the museum (which was closed for renovation, I think) and we braved large numbers of field trip students to explore the Linnean House. The Linnean House is the “oldest continuously operated public greenhouse west of the Mississippi” according the placard in front of it. It is named for the “father of taxonomy,” Carl Linnaeus. As an educator and advocate for science and social studies, this was one place I couldn’t say “let’s leave it for next time.” Outside there were sculptures and a large sundial that fascinated me. Inside there were more glass sculptures and, of course, more plants.
I hope you enjoyed the last leg in this field trip. Please visit the other sections of the gardens in my previous posts listed below.
