On our way to central Australia, we camped in a small town called Nelson, it's just on the boarder of Victoria and South Australia. One of the attractions was the Princess Margaret Rose Caves which were just brilliant. I'v been in normal mines, salt mines but I never seen anything like this before.
Story
Two guys by the name of Mr J. Hutchesson and K. McEachern first stumbled upon the cave in 1936 while hunting for rabbits. They noticed a hole in the ground which was too big for any animal, so they decided to investigate it. One of them got lowed into the hole. The original passageway was a 17m vertical shaft, all the poor bloke had was some string and matches with him. As there was no other way to access it a stairwell had to be dug through the limestone, it took them 5 years to dig for our pleasure today.
Semi-translucent and backlit stalagmites, stalactites, helictites and flow stone form sculptures where formed around "800,000" years ago.
It takes around 6 months for the rain water to filter through the ground and reach the cave, so depending on what the weather was like 6 months ago the caves can either be very damp or reasonably dry.
Apparently they grow at the rate of about 1cm per 100 years so another 500 years before they finally meet and make a column.
This cave got flooded few times before by the near by river that overflowed causing some damage.
Just a face :)
Another crack caused by a flood.
Trees root have found their way all the way down here, that's over 15m down!

I was in same place in Europe: Slovakia and Mallorca.

This looks great, if you ever get a chance you should check out Jenolan Caves in the Blue Mountains, it's a massive cave system.
My family and I were there last year and it was mind-blowing!

Congratulations on travel digest selection. Well deserved. Very similar to Snowy Jade Cave we saw in Fengdu, China, several years ago (which I must post someday).
