Monongahela "Portal to the Four Directions"

in nature •  7 years ago

Beyond the large boulder that looks a head is a vast wilderness of mostly low growing trees and shrubs (lots of wind year round) Small pools of water varying in depth are concealed by sphagnum moss and smaller boulders with bowl like pits also filled with water. This particular area is one of the highest valleys east of the Mississippi River. Blueberries and cranberries are abundant.

Thank you for the description...sounds fantastic! The rocks are very similar to a place I visited for the first time that is not far from my home. I couldn't believe such an amazing place was so close! So much beauty out there to discover...thank you for sharing!

I appreciate your request to know more about my happy place. Writing is a tremendous challenge for me :( You've nudged me out of my shell a bit :~) The rocks are Sandstone-Quartzite conglomerate. Keep seeking those little treasure spots not far from you. You'll be quite surprised by what you'll find.

I am glad I nudged you, we all need that every now and then.

I make an effort to keep my sense of wonder up and operational even in the everyday...those treasure spots are everywhere!

The streets will flow with the blood of the non-believers...
