Usually I am quite calm, I can let things wash over me. But I can also get emotional and angry about the way in which some people live their lives and yes I know it is their life, it is their choice. I get that, but that does not mean I have to be happy about it. I would love for things to change, for more people to start giving a damn, to actually wake the fuck up and see how lucky we are to live in such an amazing place. But some folk continue to shit all over it.

To treat other people and life forms as garbage. I have people make assumptions about me because of how I look and how I live. I am used to getting singled out every time I have to take a flight. Why cos I don't polish up as good as some, cos I don't make enough of an effort to look good.

Well guess what I don't give a damn about all that, I do however give a damn about how I live my life. Because right now we need to step outside this human bubble. We need to stop feeding all our energy into how we look and how our homes look and instead put it into looking after the environment. I don't care for make up, for fine clothes, for expensive things. I don't give a damn about where you have been, it is all about where you are going.

So where are you going?

I see you
walk on by,
head held high
your ego reaching for the sky,
I see the way
in which you disregard
all other life forms
that you refuse to acknowledge and recognize.
I see the way in which you dump
your dregs upon this earth
the way in which you resist
any attempt to engage and initiate your rebirth.
Is that fear behind your eyes
that has you cowering
and clinging on
to all the objects that fill your life?
And What are all these false pretences
that follow you around,
your feet so heavy
this ball and chain sinking you into the ground.
I see how you look at me,
one quick glance and you shake your head
I'm not worth your time of day
your eyes full of disgust and sheer dread
at the thought of having to share space with me
but you,
you my friend,
you and me
can hold this disrespect in equal measures
I got little to no time
to work and share in your treasures.

You do You and if they don’t like it... sucks to be them. Just because someone dresses different, lives life different or even thinks differently is no excuse to pass judgement on them or single them out. Truthful words you have spoken here. God Bless

i hear you. we are brought up to believe that appearances matter more than actions, that its ok for guys to be or act a certain way, but how dare you if your a woman, or a black, or poor.

it's difficult not to judge, to break the habits and taboos of childhood. there is a fine line between hygeine intelligence and appearance, and its usually connected to social class and judgment.

I made the choice when i was quite young not to shave my legs. why? because its a standard upheld by one half of our society to control the other half. a standard of beauty, like having a slim figure or painted nails. before i was old enough to date i knew I would never meet these standards, and I would be judged for my lack. so why the hell should i bother?

society wants to dictate how we should be, so THEY can feel safe. they press misguided beliefs onto us, onto our kids, and set up economics so we have to run around trying to meet all of these superficial expectations so they can feel safe.

they ignore what really counts, because it just isnt in there lexicon. honesty. integrity. awareness of who we are in relation to everyone else, to the earth and its other inhabitants. your poem is the perfect reaction to that.

I admire your passion for nature, it hurts to see the indifference of many people to the environment. However, I think we can also achieve a balance between nature and our lifestyle 😉
