Who says you can't see reptiles in December? On Turtle Island, any warm day means green anoles (Anolis carolinensis) in the garden! This somewhat sluggish female was peering at me Christmas morning from our dying black-eyed-susan vine. Despite the fact that these lizards are among the most common animals on the island, I still get a kick out of seeing them, especially this time of year. They are such charismatic little creatures, tilting their heads to look at you before darting away. Look forward to baby anoles in the spring, adorable!
