I sub in a suburb north of Dallas where I live. I live in Allen, so haha most of the time it's not scary. I usually only sub grades Kinder through 6th grade. It only gets scary if you have 6th graders who think they don't have to listen to the substitute teacher and/or kids in any other grade whose parents didn't teach them to respect adults or be kind to their peers! I experienced all of this last year and it made me sad! Why do I sub, because deep down I'm a teacher and have always enjoyed seeing children learn new things! In my first life after college, I was a computer programmer in the Geophysical Business - finding oil! I have a math degree with computer science. I took a break to be a stay at home mom and didn't return to the computer world. So now I substitute and tutor a few kids after school in math and/or reading.

oh my gosh violetmed! well I hate to tell you this but I think you're overqualified to be on this platform! lol. that is so fascinating...no regrets I bet huh? to raise the kids is the most important job in the world.
do you know anything about how they go about finding oil? Mrs. J was wondering if we had oil under us and I told her it would probably cost a fortune to have an essayer or whatever they're called, to check out the property. lol.

Well, I'm sure you would already see some oil derricks pumping away on your neighbor's properties if there was oil around there. What city in Texas did you tell me you and the wife live near? As you know, West Texas has most of the oil in Texas! As for being a stay at home mom, I never regretted it! I felt blessed that I was able to do it, since my husband had a good job!

howdy this beautiful Sunday violetmed! yes Ma'am when people joke about the "black gold" in Texas I tell them that I'v never seen any wells in North Texas but the West is mostly wells from what I've read.

He is retired for the moment, but might get a part time job. Haha, I told him he is too young to retire - not yet 65 and health insurance is too expensive if you aren't on Medicare!
