Today I introduce to you .... - the Marmoset!

Marmoset's are a small primate found in the jungles of South America. They live in groups of 3-15. Interestingly, their reproductive structures consist of 1-2 breeding females. The other females will not cycle when the breeding females are still of reproductive age. They also engage in monogamy, polyandry (female has more than one male) and polygyny (male has more than one female). They have fraternal twins, however, triplets are less common. There are 11 known species of marmosets. Often the males and even other offspring or group members will assist in carrying babies in the group. Their life span is 12 years and offspring are born every 6 months.

They are usually found high up in the canopy and feast on tree sap, fruits and insects. They have specific dentition (teeth) that allow them to gnaw holes in tree trunks for sustenance. They can jump 15 feet in one single bound. They are quick movers.
