The largest shark that has ever existed is the Megalodon. With a length of 20 meters approx. And 50 tons of weight, it fed on primitive whales almost 16 million years ago.
There are many hypotheses about the fate of this predator, as it is claimed that there were sightings of that oceanic creature at present. And they attribute remains found in the coasts of other large animals.
A new study from the University of Florida leaves these cases as a legend since it is impossible for the Megalodon to remain in the oceans since for these scientists it was extinct 2.6 million years ago.
The reason for this assertion is that the scientists claim that when the Megalodon became extinct, it allowed the whales to acquire the large size and feeding they currently have, since these predators did not allow the evolution of the whales.
