I felt like doing something different today, which leads me here. Today, I'm going to tell you all about the most metal flower in all of the world. I just recently found out about this strange little plant, and figured it would make for a good post. Amorphophallus titanum, also known by the name of Titan Arum, is a flowering plant that has the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world. That's right, this is clearly the Ron Jeremy of the plant world. But, that's not the most interesting thing about this flower. What is really interesting about Titan Arum is that this cool little plant emits a strong odor that gives off the same smell of a rotting corpse or carcass, hence the name Corpse flower or Corpse plant. It does this to attract flesh flies, beetles and other insects who pollinate.
Titan Arum was found in 1878 by an Italian botanist by the name of Odoardo Beccari, and is one of very few flowers that has been classified as a Carrion flower. Besides this particular plant, there's only 4 others which fall under that category. You might be asking yourself what is a Carrion flower. Well, it's just another way to say Corpse flower pretty much, but far more lame. Seriously, who the hell would want to call it a Carrion flower when just saying Corpse flower gives you the blessing of the metal gods. You probably haven't heard or seen of this plant unless you've randomly come across it online like me. And, there's probably some reasons for that such as it is only native to two islands in Indonesia, Java and Sumatra. Though of course there are certain people who cultivate these flowers in their own greenhouses in other countries around the world.
I think that this is actually a positive thing, as this plant is actually classified as a vulnerable species of plant. We could see this go extinct within decades due to deforestation in Indonesia if nothing is done, which is slightly metal but more depressing than anything. Around 70 percent of the environment that this plant grows in has already been destroyed. If this continues, sooner or later we'll end up seeing this flower on an endangered list, something which will more than likely cause Ragnarok to befall us as the gods punish us for our trespasses and treason. I sure as hell don't want to be sent to a dark oblivion, so cut that shit out! But, lets get back on point and talk some more about this plant.
Not only does Titan Arum give off the smell of rotting flesh, but it tries to give off the appearance of a piece of meat via texture and dark red colored inflorescence. When in bloom, the flower even gives off about the same body temperature as a human being, furthering the illusion to help attract insects for pollination. This is quite clearly a perfect example of nature being absolutely fucking metal. Sadly, it's pretty hard to catch this cool little flower in action. Blooming can take anywhere from 7-10 years to happen when being cultivated outside of its natural habitat, and only lasts for a few days maximum. Occasionally, some of the flowers will boom again within 2-3 years, but there's no sure way to predict it.
Another interesting little fact about the odor that this plant gives off is that it generally starts to grow much stronger when darkness falls, and hits its peak in the late evening/early morning. One could say that the reason they do this is because the insects they're looking to attract become active at this time and are more likely to appear and begin pollination. I, however, believe that this flower knows that the forces and strength of metal grow stronger in the evening. It uses this knowledge to further its abilities and call upon the dark forces to aid it on its quest of pollination and being absolutely brutal.
Alright, well maybe that last part was just a bit of conjecture. But, nonetheless, I'm keeping it in there because this is my article, so suck it. (I don't know why anyone would expect this post to be super serious, you clearly don't know who the hell I am.) Either way, I just felt like doing a bit of a silly post on a flower that is not only pretty cool, but pretty god damn metal if you ask me. I really don't think people know much about Corpse flowers, and thought it would be fun to spread the info a bit in a comedic way. Hopefully you guys have enjoyed the post, as I have enjoyed writing it and wouldn't mind doing stuff like this in the future.
If you know of any other obscure metal lifeforms, feel free to drop the names down in the comments. I'd love to learn some more about other species in nature that are strange like this one. Oh, and also a quick shoutout to @saywha for posting about frolicking in Tulips and all this other hippy dippy shit and making me realize I needed to post something brutal and cool to balance out everything. Anyways, I only have a few closing statements, all of which can be summed up in the following video. So, yeah, thanks for stopping by!
Man, I would love to have a fuck ton of these in my backyard. We are perfectly between the police station, fire department and park. What wonderful cluelessness I could video out my window with these.
Fucking Metal!

Oh, I'd absolutely love to have a few of these just to fuck with the neighbors for a few days every 7 or so years. I can only imagine the confusion and annoyance I could cause with these.

Ron Jeremy is right. I thought it looked quite phallic when I first saw the photo. Lol.
