Exploring the forests off highway 36 way up in Northern California is a magical experience. The groves here are full of old giants and the undergrowth is a glowing fern oasis. The Van Duzen River crosses your path along the main road and is worth a stop to look down as it's deep aqua color lights up the valley.
Humboldt County is full of Redwood groves but from the highway here you'll find walks that access deep full growth from the roadside that don't require the slightest of hikes, it's truly unreal!
Driving through these areas will blow your mind as the sun peaks down through the ancient growth trees climbing up into the clouds, uprooting from the literal edge of the road. The drive off 36 is beyond a movie scene, it's what dreams are made of!
These are my photo entries into the Trees Tuesday Nature Photo Contest run by @shadalene. I shot these images with my old nikon while exploring these woods with great friends.
That was some biiiig trees. Nothing like it here in Norway. Great photos too.
