NATURE PHOTO CONTEST WEEK #3

TEXTURES THURSDAY WINNERS!

Thank you for your awesome submissions to the Textures Thursday Nature Photo Contest!

The entries were judged by Mark Angel-Trueman (@markangeltrueman).

”Textures is a very hard thing to judge as the concept of what makes a photo primarily about the texture is very subjective. I tried to judge based on photos where the primary subject was the texture itself and where the photograph made me want to become involved in a tactile manner with the subject. For Derek’s photo, I just wanted to be there with the sand dunes under my feet. For the texture of the sand in this photo to almost overpower the milky way part of the image was a feat in itself. Brilliantly done, as I am sure you all agree. Thanks to @shadalene for inviting me to judge this competition and thanks to all for entering; your efforts to make this platform a place for photographers to get rewarded for their work is admirable” ~ Mark

”Nighttime at the Little Sahara Sand Dunes in Utah, where a flashlight reveals, through light and shadow, the wind-sculpted textures in the sand.”

“This photo was taken at Elliot Heads, a small picturesque seaside village in Queensland, Australia. It is here where the river meets the sea and on low tide you're left with these glorious tidal patterns in the sand. Great for photographing, not for walking on! : )”

THIRD PLACE (7% of this post’s SBD): @bringolo

“Common cockles are very common on the North Sea beaches in Holland. When I see them, I want to feel them in my hands and feel the ribbed surface. Walking along the beach with some shells in my hand: I find that very relaxing.”

Unbelievably gorgeous photos. Each one different. Looking forward to seeing more of your photography. You have such a gift.

Wow!!! A glorious collection!

Amazing pictures!!

Nice selecion! I think I like @derekkind's photo best, but the picture @fivealive55 took is awesome as well. I love the blueish tone of the trees and how small they look! Great composition!

Thanks for choosing my image as the third! The motivation for selecting the winners made me think about textures:

I tried to judge based on photos where the primary subject was the texture itself and where the photograph made me want to become involved in a tactile manner with the subject.

The key to a good texture image is making someone become involved in a tactile manner. I had never thought about this way and find this a very useful way to think about textures.

Congratulations to all winners. Beautiful work! Very well done!!!
