Here are some texture of the seabed with numerous pools on a beach in Portugal during low tide.

This shot always reminds me of an alligator. Water running back into the ocean at the beach. :)

Sand and Stars

Wow ~~ This. Is. EPIC ✨😆✨

Thank you, Carrie! :)

AND... he's back!! ; )

Yeah! I guess you could say I was away from nature for a while? :p

Hahaa :D
I love this idea... I'm really hoping you get these tutorials going! Other than sand dunes are there any other landscapes this technique works well for?

Good question. Hmn. Maybe some rock surfaces? Stones/pebbles on a seashore? Trees? Grass? Dunes are nice because they're usually naturally even and unchaotic, unless someone's been tramping over them since the last strong wind.

Yeah totally... we don't really have dunes like that here, not that I've seen yet anyway. I'd just like to have a play and was wondering what else you've had success with. : )

Thanks for the tips!

Oh - water is another good one for textures! :)

Really... okay... I'll keep that in mind. We're going away soon to a very isolated area. It's nice and dark out there, not a lot of open space where we'll be staying though, I've been thinking maybe we could go for a drive at night... just not sure about the wildlife out there though! But I'm going to have a bit of a play, either way. : )

No need for me to enter today's contest -- We have our winner! @derekkind I'm beyond speechless!

Thank you!! :)

I have been coming back to this Hawaiian reef for 40 years. I can explore the tide pools for hours and hours and be fascinated with every little nook. The early morning lighting expresses a delight of colors and textures. This is a tidal pool at Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park. 82E719B7-17FE-4C93-9683-941FF9CECE6B.jpeg

This is the beach where I live. The photo was taken last December when there had been a lot of wind, combined with freezing.
This resulted in this view where you can see the texture of ice from the waves which were freezing on the beach. It gave a bit of an arctic view.

Isn't the variety of tree barks remarkable? This shot was taken in a park nearby with a Nikon D7000 (F/4, 1/60sec).

photocontest @shadalene,
This is a close up from a lilly leaf , the texture is so complicated , and pretty, it feels almost like velvet.
Mother nature makes fine art :)

Above a redwood forest near Santa Cruz California shot with my Mavic Pro.

The ribbed texture of common cockles:
Common cockles on the North Sea beach
Common cockles are very common on the North Sea beaches in Holland. When I see them, I want to feel them in my hands and feel the ribbed surface. Walking along the beach with some shells in my hand: I find that very relaxing.

Sea urchin in very clear water. I took this photo while cleaning up seaweed from the beach. Our island is one big coral rock you see the structures of the coral and the sea urchin. You don't want to step on one.

I see a cute little raccoon face. :)

Ahh you have the eyes of an artist.

Good morning, this is my participation for Textures Thursdays. In the photo a terrestrial iguana from the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador, taken at the Charles Darwin Institute with a Sony DSC-P93A camera (ISO 100; 23.7mm; f5.2; 1/80).

Cool photo!

Thank you for your comment Nina, I follow you, we share the passion for nature.

This should be the work of a bork beetle. They reproduce in the inner bark and create those galleries to lay their eggs.

Here's my entry...
This photo was taken at Elliot Heads, a small picturesque seaside village in Queensland, Australia. It is here where the river meets the sea and on low tide you're left with these glorious tidal patterns in the sand. Great for photographing, not for walking on! : )
