Don't Taste The Rainbow

Caught this photo on my last day in Bali a little over a week ago. Notice how from left to right, the reflection of the sun literally goes from orange, to yellow, to teal, to sky blye, to dark blue, to pink way on the right side?

(Sorry to insult your intelligence, I know you have eyes)

It's kind of the most amazing thing ever. A rainbow sunset. But I wouldn't taste the rainbow like the Skittles commercial says, because you'd get a lot of sand in your mouth and probably trash.

I'm sad to say there was a lot of trash on this beach in Kuta. I cropped it out because that's what you DO, but I thought it would be funny to also post another picture side by side like hey, here's the trash. Here's the other side of travel that you DON'T see all over social media.

I forgot to picture the trash, but I can always find more.

For every problem, though, there's a solution. I just saw a video the other day about the trash problem in Asia in general, and someone invented a bag that looks like plastic, but it's actually made out of yuca root!

I think that's so cool! I definitely wish all stores around the world would immediately buy these Yuca bags!

Anyway, here's another picture where I made sure you couldn't see the trash:

The boats on this beach were beautiful! They look like the Banka boats in the Philippines. I'm sure they're called something different in Bahasa Indonesian, though.

A couple of more pics before I go:

Beautiful pictures, should I say you are a good photographer?

Thanks! I appreciate your kind words!

Amazing photos... in the future, try the rule-of-third on your subjects and your photos will turn out even better.... I didn't know you could literally write a post using Steepshot..

Yeah! Sometimes I post with steepshot, but a lot of times I don't because it doesn't let me write enough. Thanks so much for the tip!!!! I appreciate constructive criticism! Hmm...is there an app for that?

That like automatically shows if you that your subject is directly in one of the 3rds? Because I'm not sure if I'm good enough at telling with just my eye. Sometimes I even take crooked pictures haha. That'd be a cool app.

Thanks for telling me that!

Yeah, I am aware that Steepshot limits the writing one can do, which is why I am amazed to see a long Steepshot post.

There isn't an app for rule of thirds. Fact is, almost all conceivable camera, smartphone and photo editing tool have the grid/guidelines.

This is the gridlines I see from my Adobe Lightroom software on my Mac.

And these are 2 of your photos which I cropped in accordance to the rule of thirds. One more rule of thirds to apply for these 2 photos depends on the direction the subject is looking. If he is looking right, then we'll need to place him on the left guideline of the 1/3, giving him space to ponder and audience to imagine what he is looking at. Vice versa when he is looking at the right.

Thanks for sharing:)

Whoa, thanks so much!!!! I'll save this for future reference. Thanks for helping me improve. This is so cool! Ok, that grid thing is perfect! That's exactly how I was imagining an app would be!

I need to look for this grid in my phone settings, that's SO helpful!

You are most welcome, I will soon be writing a post about rule of thirds.. and I'll make it as practical and fun as possible so it is easier to understand:)

haha cool! That's a good post idea!! I'm looking forward to seeing it!

OMG, The photos are beautiful especially the 1st when there are few colours on it. Where do you go next after Bali?

Aw thanks @joannewong!! I'm in Hanoi now!

Wow!! enjoy Hanoi. I heard Hanoi has a lot of different type of coffee

Yeah!! They have "egg coffee" even. I'll post about it sometime!

Hey! You're really good at taking pictures. :D
Could I know which camera are you using?

thanks!! I just used my iphone 6s! And edited a LITTLE bit with snapseed, but not much, because honestly I just got lucky with some really nice sunsets that already had a lot of color in them!

Thanks for the compliment!

No problem!
Here's a suggestion for you: Download Adobe Lightroom App if its available on the Apple Store. It gives a lot more editing features and usually the pictures come out more professional than on Snapseed after editing. :)

Oh man thanks for that!! I'll try to use it!

No problem :)

Wonderful Views 💟 @nomadicsoul

Bali has one of the best sunsets no doubt. Just like other places, trash is also a big problem. It's sad but pollution is happening all over the world.

Well, it's everywhere, the dirt. Especially plastic wastes. We just have to deal with it.

Yuca root bags would efinitely work since it is biodegradable. wonder why i haven't heard of those before now.

Good shots. Phone or a professional camera?
