ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 10 years in prison and struck an 8 million pounds fine in the Avenfield property reference on Friday while his daughter Maryam was sentenced to a fine of £ 2m for seven years.
Nawaz's son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar was given a one-year sentence.
Liability Court-I Judge Mohammad Bashir announced the verdict today after several delays since the morning.
In addition, the court Mariaam has also sentenced to one-year imprisonment for the submission of false documents in court.
The court also ruled that the Avenif's apartments of the Sharif family owned by them since 1993 will be seized by the federal government.
The Avenfield property reference was one of three filed last year by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the light of the High Court's verdict against Nawaz in the Panama paper case. The reference refers to the ownership of the Sharif family's apartments at Avenfield House, London.
Maryam, Safdar excluded from elections 2018.
