Neanderthals Split From Humans Much Earlier Than Thought: A new study suggests that modern humans may have split from our closest relatives the Neanderthals over 800,000 years ago, hundreds of thousands of years earlier than had been previously thought. That said, researchers say they still managed to get together every year or so for family reunions.
