Needlework Monday Embellishing T-shirtssteemCreated with Sketch.

I like to crochet with thread, but one can only use so many doilies, so I decided to crochet a lacy edge on the neckline and sleeves of some t-shirts.

First I cut the neckline down

Then I cut a few inches off the sleeves

Then I pinned a hem on the cut edges...

And worked a blanket stitch all around so I would have something to crochet into.

Now for the fun part... Single crochet, chain 3 all around

And again

Repeat until the lace is the size that you want

You can match the thread colour to the shirt like this...

Or you can change it up, and even crochet appliques to add, like this...

It's just a fun way to work simple crochet onto an everyday t-shirt .

Oh my I am in love with this Anise!! This is so creative, chic and original! Now I want to dig out some old T-shirt’s and do this!

Okay I must be slow today. How did you get the stitch holes in there at the beginning to do the blanket stitch? I am so excited about this technique! 🤗

Thanks Crosheille. It is so easy too. I did the blanket stitch with a needle and thread. Just make sure the thread is very long to start...like 4 or 5 feet, or you will be making lots of knots and restarts. Blanket stitch uses lots of thread.

I got it! I think this will be my first thread project! Thank you so much for sharing this my friend! 😘

I'm so happy to have inspired you! I am sure that with your skills, you will come up with something extra-ordinary and fashionable too. Thank YOU Crosheille, for starting this group and making Mondays a day to look forward to!

Awww you always have such encouraging responses! You have truly inspired me and I really appreciate you! You are so welcome! I am thankful you all joined me. It wouldn’t be a Fun Monday without you all! ❤️

amazingly !!!! simply and beautifully !!!! I like all 3 models !!!! I will also try to make a T-shirt according to your method. I really liked your needle bar - strawberry !!!!!

Thanks so much @tali72 . I bet you will come up with something beautiful and colorful, like all of your crochet projects!

thanks for the compliment!!!! 😀

These are great. Your stitches are so even and professional! I’m amazed at how good you are with thread.

Thanks @bedoodle for your kind words. I have been working with thread for several years. The trick is to keep some tension on it by wrapping it around your fingers as you crochet. It's very similar to yarn otherwise.

That’s a great tip! I’ll use that tactic when I pick up my dream catcher again!

That's aMAZing! It's coming into summer here. This is a perfect summer project. Thanks for sharing all the steps.

I'm happy you like it! And you're welcome! Please post some pictures of your summer t-shirt when you finish. 😀

Oh my. They are beautiful. Thanks so much for the pics instructions. I cant wait to try this.
