Needlework Monday - My most difficult crochet project!steemCreated with Sketch.

I made this last year from a chart, and it is the most challenging doily I've done so far.

First, I am not familiar with charts and I never learned to crochet from a chart. I attempted a few easy chart patterns with success so when this one caught my eye, I just had to try it. There was a lot of "frogging" involved and I just know there is a big mistake in there somewhere! Blocking was a bear and my eyes begged me to stop...but I do like the fnished product. Just don't ask me to make another one! 😉

Wow! This is So Fantastic, Really Great Job :) What will this Piece be Used for?

Thank you so much! Well, at present, she is sitting in an oversized pizza box with about 30 of her sisters! I just enjoy making them. They don't make the best gifts because most people think they're old fashioned and then they end up in someone elses closet! haha

I Guess I'm Old Fashioned Then Cause I Love it :)

I do too! Thanks again :)

What the heck is frogging?

It's when you pull all your stitches out and it makes the sound "rippit, rippit", very similar to the sound "ribbit, ribbit" made by frogs! 😀😀

Sounds like the appropriate term! Great job by the way 👍

Mahalo!

I love the finished product! I worked from a crochet chart one time and it took me a minute to get used to. I can’t imagine how doing something like this from a chart would be, I probably would have gotten confused and given up lol! Kudos to you for completing your project, it’s lovely~

Also if you would like to see your work displayed at Steemfest you can view it in this post.

Thank you! I still hesitate to try another difficult chart pattern, but I have lots of old magazines filled with them so I will try again. Yes, I saw your repost a few days ago! How cool is that having a project pic on display at Steemfest! Thanks for all your efforts to make it happen for us. You are a gem! 💕

I know it’s so cool and exciting! I’m so glad several of us participated! We were there but miles away! 😄. No problem, I love doing things like this! 😉 You’re so sweet, thank you~

I had to google 'frogging'. What a revelation! I've done HEAPS of frogging without ever knowing that's what it's called.

I was also interested that you mentioned 'blocking'. I sort of knew, intellectually, what that meant, but have never done it. I looked up a couple of explanations and should probably do it. I think my new yoga strap could benefit.

Apart from learning all that interesting terminology, the doily looks nothing short of magnificent!

I had never heard of frogging until I joined a few crochet groups on FB. They all use that term. I admit, it does fit.
Blocking a doily can be a pain, but it is usually necessary with thread. I wet it, then pin it to a foam tile, then spray with starch and let it dry. It looks totally different when blocked..and much better.
Thank you very much for the compliment! 😀

Wow!!!!! very beautiful!!!!! is it large?

Thank you very much! It is about 16 inches across but could have been made much larger because it is many parts put together, but I could not keep going because my eyes were getting tired!
