Happy #NeedleWorkMonday Everyone!!! Today is the day we get to share the Preemie hats we made for our Community Project #1 ’Project NICU Warmth’!

As you all know this project was very dear to me as I have experienced having a family member in the care of the NICU as we wait, hope and pray for a miracle. I was really blown away by your generous and willing hearts to jump right in and get going on this project. There were even a couple of people, @lturner and @mamabear72 that recently just joined our group and jumped right in to participate 2 weeks after the first initial project announcement. This says a great deal about the type of people we have in this community! Thank you for your loving hearts❣️

I really enjoyed making these little hats and I’m glad to say I accomplished my goal and made 10! 😃 I loved seeing what size they turned out to be as I finished them. I used several hook sizes in order to get a variety of sizes using this Pattern. I used hook sizes D, E, F, G and H. It really was a good feeling knowing I will be helping these little fighting babies to stay warm while in the NICU~

I was disappointed that I couldn’t add any appliqué flowers to some of the girly colors. I have a huge bag of appliqués, buttons, beads, ribbon etc. that I cannot find at the moment. I have invested a lot of time and monies in collecting these things to keep on hand. I am praying hard I find it. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to make any little flowers myself to put on so they will remain as they are. Hopefully the next time I donate items I will be able to spruce them up a bit.

Here are a few more pics of the finished hats...

Here are some general guidelines for preparing your hats after completion:

Please wash soiled items with unscented detergent before sending.
Do not use fabric softener.
Don’t forget to weave in your ends on knit/crochet items!
For a sewn item, double check for pins and clip all loose threads.
Package each hat/bootie set for the NICU in a separate ziploc bag.

Thank you again to all that were able to participate. We will be coming up with more project ideas in the future that everyone will be able to participate in no matter what your skills are. They turned out very nicely! Beautiful colors to brighten the parents day!

Thank you so much! Mission accomplished! ☺️

I had to google NICU and after finding the twerm... I so hope all went well with your family. Having a newborn baby in the hospital is kind of worst case! So you helping with this hats is a beautifull idea and I absolutely love how you arragened them on the photos. ALos working them without flowers or embellishments is perhaps better, because they are safer for the babys. I also love the bright colours, I think a little bit of brightnes can help, if your child is in care. So all in all a wonderful idea. (Don't you want to write down the pattern?? :-D I will go on an push a little bit, because you have so much to give)
thank you for your post

Thank you dear friend! Yes all went well with my niece. A miracle happened to where the cyst on her brain shrunk and disappeared on it’s own! I saw how much it uplifted my sisters spirit when my niece received a beautiful crocheted hat. It can make a world of difference when someone shows you generosity.

Thanks! I had fun doing the hat photo shoot! 😄 I have gotten a few comments that it’s probably better without embellishments so that makes me feel better.

Of course!! It’s not my pattern but I know where to get it!!! Here’s the Link ;)

They are so cute and for a real good cause well done :)

Tip!

Thank you so much dear friend! I really appreciate your support! Thank you so much for the tip! ☺️

My pleasure 😎

Bravo!

Some mommas in the town where I live did this before, I was so proud of them. Too bad I don't even sew nicely, I can't crochet at all, even after countless YouTube videos. I'm hopeless 😌

I thank you for doing this! My oldest was premature and contracted a bactery at the hospital, was in NICU for a bit, in winter, and he was given a crocheted hat at the hospital ❤️

I love hearing about other community’s getting together to donate to a cause like this! Thank you very much for those seeet words.

I gave up a couple of times on crocheting until I finally nailed it. It takes awhile to get used to but the key is sticking with it and keep trying! 😉

I’m so glad your baby received crocheted love while in the NICU! It can really put smiles on families faces~ ☺️

Your little handmade preemie hats are adorable, and the lives they help save will make a permanent difference! It'sprobably better that there are no embellishments, anyway. Amazing job, dear!

Thank you so much my dear!!! I really want to help out these families. I appreciate that, I was really sad I couldn’t add anything but it’s good to know you think they’re fine the way they are :)

These are really beautiful hats. And you choice of color is just amazing.
Personally, I think it's still really wonderful even without the applique flowers. They just look matured.
I'd be happy if you could organize an online tutorial and teach us how to make stuffs like this.

Thank you for such a wonderful comment @victoriaslessor! I really appreciate the positive feedback. My future goal is to get some beginner crochet tutorials posted on here. I just haven’t had the time to get it set up yet. Stay tuned ;)

Been awhile @crosheille. Nice work you have here. Beautifully made and colourful. Well done!

Thank you very much @happoculturation! Thank you for the kind words and thank you for viewing ~ 😊

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the support and your nice feedback! I’m so glad you liked the colors :)

That is really neat. How long have they been making blankets? Feel free to share them with us for #NeedleworkMonday if you ever get the chance. We are all about inspiring one another. 😊

sounds really awesome, ill be sure to do that next time I have a chance to take a couple photos! catch u on your next post ttyl!

👌🏽😃!!!

This is a skill I wish I had learnt. Funny enough my Mom knits , nice work. Some babies will be warm tonight, thank you for that.

You still can learn!! 😊 Just as I am trying to learn to sew and my mom has been a seamstress for over 30 years. She tried to teach my sister and I but we were too young to understand the benefit in learning. I surely regret that.

Thank you so much the kind words. ☺️

Wow, 30 years is a lot of experience, we are reverse then! I sew and you knit... cool. Its never too late to learn something new tho if you really would like to learn how to sew. Although my mum gets pretty busy these days but I know if I make a little effort she might show me one or two steps. I'll start by buying a knitting thread and pin.

Yes! She’s been sewing since middle school age! My mom told me she could still give me a few pointers. I’ve been teaching myself since Life is so busy for everyone. I watch a lot of YouTube videos which helps. I hope you get to learn knitting as you wish! 😊

Thanks, just basics for now🙂

Same here 😊

The hats are adorable as they are. You are amazing - 10 hats! I tip my hat to you :)

I really appreciate that! Thank you kindly~ 😊

💙💚💗💛💜A rainbow of colors and a heart full of love to you for the RAOK you inspire and your adorable NICU crocheted baby caps! Bless your heart! @croshelle Upv & Rsd💜💛💗💚💙

Wow you are so sweet! I really appreciate your kind words! Thank you so much!!! 💕

They're beautiful just as they are, @crosheille! The bright colors are so pretty and cheerful - I'm sure they'll warm some special moms' hearts while they're spending those long hours in the NICU.

My hats were finished! I also ended up deciding not to try to get the flowers on them in time for the pictures today. But I'm pleased to have gotten five done and will probably do a few more before sending them out since I have yarn left. Hat Post

Thank you so much @lturner! I will leave them just that way :) I sure hope the colors add a little brightness in those rooms full of anxious families.

Yay!!! I’m so glad you reached the goal!!! I’m heading over to your post now!!! 😃

Congratulations on hitting your goal! Your colors are fantastic. I love that you're supporting such a great cause!

Thank you so much! I was so glad to reach it! I’m glad you like the colors!! 😄

Such cute hats and for a great cause!

Thank you @jamethiel!! 😊

Good work! I'm super inspired by this idea. I'm going to start thinking about how my knitting can be put to good use too.

Hospitals with chemo patients sometimes accept hats - hope you find a great cause to put your skills to use.

Thank you!! I’m so glad to hear you are inspired!! That’s so great to hear! I’d love to hear the ideas you come up with!! 😊

My grandmother used to make for me hats like this when I was growing up and once she had to make me two in the same year, a big head over here hahaha. Thanks for sharing!

LOL!! That was so funny! Thanks for viewing and commenting. Well I see it as a plus that you got two new hats in one year...pretty special! 😄

Beautiful little hats, and for such a wonderful project. So great my gosh.

Thank you so much!!!! I really enjoyed doing this project! ☺️

WHat a great project to be involved in!
I applaud your generosity!

Thank you so much!!! That means a lot~ 😊

They looks so cute. Love all the colors. Well done on reaching your goal. Unfortunately I have not been able to participate. The babies who receive your hats will be blessed.

Thank you so much @snooway! That’s totally okay. We will have other projects in the future! 😉

This is absolutely awesome! Little babies will have safe, warm noggins because of your generosity, during a life critical time. My lady just got in to needle work, and I'm excited to see what comes out. I like the look. Great work, and congratulations on a job well done.

Thank you very much! It meant a lot to me getting these hats done for those babies. 😊

Cool! What type of needlework does she do? Is she here on Steemit?

I freakin' wish! Tryin' to convert her. I think she just crochets, if that is the answer you were looking for??? This is a subject I'm not very knowledgeable on.

Oh okay! Well maybe soon she’ll decide to join us all!!! Yes, thank you that answers my question :)

So adorable. So tiny. I love them. What a great thing you're doing and encouraging others to do as well. Keep it up! :)

Thank you so much my dear!! I appreciate your encouragement and kind words very much~ 💕

The colours of the hats are so bright and happy @crosheille ! It's a very inspiring initiative.

Thank you so much! I am really glad I went with brighter colors. I read a blog that talked about how the bright colors help brighten the moods of the NICU families. I’m so thankful this initiative has inspired others~ 😊

Wow, fantastic job! I have knitted for causes before but when I missed a collection deadline for a chemo caps drive once, I called around to hospitals thinking I could just drop it off myself, and every person I talked to was like, "weird ...I don't know if we can take that..." So I guess it helps to have a contact person first!

Thank you!! ☺️ Yes it’s good to know which hospitals are accepting these types of donations instead of just dropping them off. Maybe it will get to a point when all hospitals accept them.

So very cute and colorful!! Great job on the project!

Thank you very much!!!! 😊

You rock! It's a veritable rainbow of hats!!!

Awww 😄 thank you so much!!!

Those are beautiful.

Sometimes it’s better that they aren’t embellished - the NICU my daughter was in (last decade) didn’t let the hats have embellishments.

Great colors.

Thank you so much! I did read you have to be careful with the type of embellishments you use. I appreciate your comment and compliments of the hats! 😊
