Happy #NeedleWorkMonday everyone! Today is also my 37th Birthday 🎉!!! I can’t believe I’ll be 40 in a few years because I still feel 20!!! 😜

Anyhoo! I am so excited I had the chance to work on my baby girl’s crochet cardigan! I wanted to get going on this so she can wear it this Fall. This pattern was created by our very own needleworker @neumannsalva! She graciously shared this beautiful pattern with the needlework community and I couldn’t wait to try my hands at it!

It really got me motivated when I saw @cryptocariad’s finished cardigan as well as @shanibeer’s finished cardigan! These ladies did a lovely job following her pattern and both reported it was easy to follow.

The Yoke

When I first learned how to do the fsc (foundation single crochet) stitch it took me almost 2 days to figure it out. I was so frustrated I couldn’t get it that it brought me to TEARS! My husband suggested I put it away and come back to it in a couple of days but I was determined to get it figured out. Sometimes we overthink things when it could just be a simple step.

Now I can do it with no struggle at all. So when I saw that @neumannsalva’s pattern called for it I approached it with proudness :D

I loved crocheting up this first part . It was fun watching this come into shape. I kept measuring it to my baby to make sure she would have plenty of room . I want to make this bigger than what she is now so she’ll have room to grow.

Making the sleeve openings was a lot of fun. I love seeing my projects progress as I crochet. I kept imagining my baby’s little arms going in there. 🤗

I love that I will be able to fit the sleeves exactly to her arm length. I will make them a little longer so she will have room to grow length wise as well.

This is where I ended late last night. I haven’t tried the finished body on my daughter yet. I will do that sometime today before I move on. She is quite long so I need to make sure it goes down to her waistline.

Let me say I am having a lot of fun and can’t wait to show you more as it develops. My husband helped me choose the color scheme. It will consist of pretty Fall colors! The pattern has been easy to follow and I was able to do this much in just one sitting. Thanks again @neumannsalva for this beautiful easy to follow pattern!! 💗

Thanks for Stopping By~

Hope you had the best birthday ever gorgeous!! You're as young as you feel....I am so envious of your 20-year-old self <3

Thank you so much sweet Mama!! I totally agree we are as young as we feel. 😁

Happy Birthday Yopung lady :)

Thats such a beautiful cardigan :)

Thank you! I feel young! 😄

Thanks so much! I’m excited to finish it! ☺️

Feeling young is a good thing, I try to feel young but its bene a truggle with the heat here and moving office of recent :)

Any type of work in the heat would make it hard to feel young. I totally get it...the heat drains me.

Happy birthday! I laughed when I read about your frustration with single foundation crochet - I'd been in exactly that place! It took me ages to work it out, I may even have had to sleep on it. The jacket looks charming and is coming along nicely - as you say, it is lovely to be able to fit your garment on your baby as you go along.
Hope you are having a lovely day with a lovely evening planned. Do you have family rituals for birthdays? We used have cake and special little cakes with different coloured icing and tiny little bread finger rolls with delicious fillings and balloons. All the children would be so excited!

Thank you so much for the Birthday wishes!!

Haaa! Wasn’t that frustrating? So I’m not the only one lol. I could not get my brain around it for some reason...I was way off every time. 😅

Thank you! I am really glad I was able to get around to it. I have so many things lined up that I just said I’m starting this tonight regardless.

We don’t have much planned. However my mother in law just took my family out and told me they would be back. I think they are trying to surprise me with something. We normally do Birthday cakes too but this time we didn’t. Bread finger rolls with fillings sound yummy!! 😋

Hehe ... always suspicious when the family goes out ... have a lovely time 😘

😁 it’s so much fun!! The kids don’t think I know somethings up!

Thanks will do! 😘

woohoo happy bday!!!

LOVE that cardigan!! Hope you have a lovely day of being spoilt and not have to do any chores :)

Thank you @vincy!!

It was a great day of spoilation lol!! No chores at all! 😁

Woohoo that’s great!! Hehe glad to hear it!

Happy Birthday to you: herzlichen Glückwunsch and alles Liebe, Gesundheit und Glück!!!
I hope you were celebrated intensely and got some good cake, hugs and love!! (Do you celebrate birthdays?)
And with the cardigan... I am more excited than you, believe me. I am so happy you came so far without finding gruesome mistakes. Your cardigan looks super cute and neat and I am curious of the next colour you will use. I hope we get some sweet 'model' photos when you are finished.
And the foundation crochet is so helpful, but I also have to look them up sometimes (when I did not make them in a long while) and at first I found it hard to determine in which loop to crochet :-DDD
Right now, I am still excited about @shanibeers standing dc (for beginning a round)
Sending you a big birthday hug

Thank you sweet lady!!! 😘 I was spoiled all day and pampered with lots of love!

I’m pleased to know how excited you are! It was smooth going...I think that’s why I got so far. I really didn’t want to stop but it was wee hours in the morning.

I’m going to see if I can at least take some pictures of her from neck down to the length of the cardigan. Notice how I only took shots of her feet when she wore @apanamamama’s cowgirl boots? My husband and I decided for safety precautions, not to show pictures of the kiddos on social media any more. It’s a bitter sweet thing because I love showing off my kids and sharing them with you all but there’s just too many crazies in this world today. I know that we already have pics of them that will forever be on this blockchain but there won’t be any pics of them as they grow up. So I’m really gonna shoot for getting just a shot of the cardigan on her ;)

That’s funny because I had to relook at how to do the fsc numerous times too. Especially when I hadn’t done it in awhile. Now I’m at the point where I probably won’t forget how to do it again. This is definitely going on my tutorial list for my series. I’m going to make a clear video showing exactly which stitch to enter because that’s the tricky part.

Oh yes!!! I’m going to use what she shared for my dc tutorial...it’s genius!!! 😘

Really good idea to not put pics of the kids on social media. I usually do that until I just recently included one of all of mine on FB and IG of our weekend fun. Good reminder though.

Thank you. Yes it’s so hard though because they are my little models (for my crochet, sewing etc) and it was so much fun including them in my posts. But once I remind myself of the reason why, it gets easier to let it go :) Safety first!

Good afternoon, Cynthia! when I was 20, I thought that in 30 years it is already old age 😂 now I think that 50 years is the beginning of life 😁 you have miraculously come out !! I'm glad that the girls share their projects with us

Haaa I love that Tala! Now I look forward to turning 50 with that in mind!! 😁😄

I am glad too! It’s so generous of them. It’s so great that we can try out their projects!

Happy birthday @crosheille!! ♥️

The cover photo of you using the start of this cardigan as a C is sooo cute!

Thank you so much for the Birthday wishes!!!

Yay I’m so glad you liked it! I was feeling creative lol!! 😄

It’s so great hearing from you. Geez I’m gonna stop by and see what you’ve been up to, it’s been too long. 😉❤️

Happy Birthday! And very nice needle work!!

Thank you so much for stopping in and wishing me a Happy Birthday!! So good hearing from you! 😊

I’m glad you like the needlework! 😃

Happy Happy Birthday! Wow, Crochetiful stuff for your darling one...

Thank you!! 🤗

I’m having fun with this new project!!

Happy birthday and that's going to be a cute little cardigan!!!

I find sweaters for the little ones are often a really useful but surprisingly expensive thing to have - when you have a new baby lots of people give really nice afghans but the sweaters and cardigans often become the thing that is used to the wear-out point.

Thank so much!! I look forward to finishing it to show you all! 😊

I soooo agree! That is one of the reasons I wanted to make one. It seems we are always short when it comes to sweaters we need for our babies. This time I wanted to make a special one for her to grow with :) I will most likely make her more as she grows out of them! The joys of needlework!! 😉

It's such a freeing thing to be able to do stuff for yourself instead of having to search for it in stores!

I think that pattern looks really comfortable and straightforward - I've been finding really nice little sweaters at the secondhand store, but it's good to know I can turn one out myself if we run short along the way for one of the kids.

I agree it is so freeing. I love that we can make it fit to our preference with colors and style. This is why I am learning how to sew too. I want to do more projects where I combine crochet and sewing.

The pattern is very straightforward, it is working up so fast!

Thank you!!! 😁

Happy Birthday! Great work on the cardigan!

Thank you @jamethiel!!! I’m excited to finish it now!

What ya been up to?

Hope you're having a lovely day, @crosheille !

The cardigan is looking beautiful :D

Thank you @cryptocariad! Yes my day is lovely thus far! My daughter gave me the day off for homeschool lol! She says,

<Mom, who wants to work on their Birthday? You have a seat and relax today and we’ll pick up with school tomorrow.

😂😂😂 she’s eight! She’s such a slickster because I know “she” just wanted the day off lol!!

Thank so much! I’m having fun making it!

That's a very wise eight-year old, @crosheille 😂
That's a great advantage of homeschooling : you don't have to stick to a schedule because you can continue at any time !

Haaa yes she is very wise already! 😄😅

That’s one of my favorite things about!!!

That's so cute. My grandmother made me a few years ago a beanie for the winter and I still keep it. When you put yourself to do something for someone you love it carries an energy that the one who gets it can feel it.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Oh that’s awesome! That’s one of the great things about needlework...the items last for a lifetime! I totally agree! When things are made with love and care the feeling is definitely spread around :D

Thanks so much for stopping by~

Love it! That is so pretty and I bet your girlie will look so cute in it! Happy happy birthday to you today!! Such fun! I was just thinking this morning, after having my 40th birthday this year that I've got 20 good years maybe left in me and then 20 years of sitting around being old. ;) Ha ha! Just kidding! I never thought of stuff like that in my 30s. I hope it's a great birthday and you skipped school and your husband and kids pamper you!! Enjoy!!

Thank you!!! It’s really a special time for me because I was just learning how to crochet when I had my first daughter. I couldn’t really make her anything when she was little. I feel like I have a second chance to make some cute girl stuff. I did make things for my boys but girly stuff is way cuter lol!

Haaaa! That’s so hilarious but true at the same time. I’ve been thinking along those terms too. Life just passes so fast. I remember being young and thinking 40 was so old Bahahha! Now I’m in that zone and I don’t think it’s old at all! 😉 Maybe we can keep crafting as long as we’re on this earth and our hands can move! 😂

Oh yes I took the day off as suggested and was totally pampered. I received some bath gel, smell good soaps and lotion and gift cards...one to a craft store and one for clothes shopping! 😍. I didn’t have to cook or clean...it was a dreamy day.

That sounds like a delightful day! So cool that they did a good job of pampering you! :) Fun that you got a second chance to make fun girlie stuff for your second daughter!! Yes, I'm now agreeing that 40 isn't old. I don't even feel like I look like I used to think 40 year olds looked like. Ha!

Haa!! 😂😂😂

Happy birthday!!! Great work on the cardigan. I love it that several NWMers are using a pattern created by a NWMer! If I could crochet worth a poop I might try it too, but I ride the crochet struggle bus. LOL

Thanks very much!

I think it’s really awesome too! That is such a big part of what this community is all about...inspiring and motivating one another!

Lol oh gosh you made me laugh out loud for real! 😂 Well that’s how I feel about knitting...one day we won’t ride those buses any more! Haaa!! 😄😉

My grandmother was one of those rare beings who could crochet and knit equally well like it was no big thing, and I still admire her yarn ambidextrousness!

Wow that’s awesome! Thanks for sharing that with me, it’s very encouraging ~ 😊

Happy birthday always. A big hug and may the beautiful remain your north. The candigan looks beautiful, your baby will look a unique piece... Hugs

Thank you!!! 😘

happy birthday beautiful mama, the cardigan looks amazing, great work xx

Thank you so much!!! Right back at ya beautiful ~ 😘

Happy birthday @crosheille! What a gorgeous cardi :) I still havent mastered foundation stitches - last time I tried I gave up and went back to normal chaining and made it up! Well done you :)

Thank you so much @kimbolo86! I hope you’ll try again. Honestly I just had to find the right video to figure it out. I will be doing a tutorial on this for my crochet series and I will make sure it is clear to understand. It is tricky thus why it took me 2 whole days to figure it out...and I worked on it non-stop for those 2 days lol! 😄😉

Happy, happy birthday @crosheille! Hope your day has been abundantly blessed!
I love the cardigan so far - it is gorgeous! Cannot wait to see what other colors you have chosen for her cardigan. 💜

Thank you so much for the Birthday wishes! I look forward to showing you all!! 😃💗

Happy belated birthday @crosheille!!! You are still soooo young!!!! Many, many more happy years for you :) And the cardigan is looking really cute and cosyyyy :) I have been hoping to get my hands started with @nuemannsalva's pattern, but I keep losing focus. It is such an enticing pattern to try. Ugh. Must focus!!! And yah, good idea not to post pictures of your kids on social media. But I'm also not comfortable posting pictures of myself :D Hope you have a year long of birthday celebration there @crosheille! Who says birthdays are just a day? We can have a great birthyear celebration!! :)

Thank you so much!! I still feel young! ☺️ The cardigan is so much fun...I just finished the first arm!! Hopefully you’ll get around to doing it!

Yes I have never had a problem with showing myself (which nowadays I probably shouldn’t) but my main concern is for them. There’s just too many crazy people with sick minds these days so no showing my precious little ones any more. I don’t blame you for not wanting to post pics of yourself...totally get it.

Oh yes, I’m feelin that birthyear celebration!!! 😄🤩

I LOVE that some of the projects are being passed around and repeated. How fun!

And happy happy birthday 🎈🎂🎉🎁🎊

Me too! I love that we can share with each other and motivate one another to try new things!

Aww thanks!! ❤️

Happy belated birthday wishes @crocheille ! Hope you had lots of fun celebrating :D

The little cardigan is so so cute and I love the fact that just in one sitting you were able to do so much, looks like it's almost there :DD

Thank you! I had a really nice time of relaxation which was sooo needed. 😊

It was fun crocheting it, I think that’s why I couldn’t stop lol! Yep almost there!!
