This lovely fabric is still being sewn into a dirndl, but my first bodice was too tight and the facings did not please me. I also wanted the fabric to have more body. My solution? Cut a new bodice (yes, I had enough fabric) and a full lining plus a layer of featherweight interfacing, all from the bodice pattern pieces.
I have fused the interfacing to the bodice pieces, sewn them together, and sewn the lining pieces together. I will try to get some pictures of the process of joining the lining and bodice tomorrow, when I have daylight for pictures. Replacing facings with a lining is often simpler than dealing with armhole and neckline facings.
I am hopeful I can have a finished project soon. Stay tuned!

I imagine sewing a dirndl is difficult to sew as it must be fitted perfectly to the wearer. And there are so many details, for example the lacing or the folds of the skirt... I am curious how yours will work out.

It just requires me to be more attentive to details. Even a small mistake means starting over, because there is literally no room for error on the bodice. The skirt is fun--I have been sewing pleats and gathers since I was 10 years old, so no problems.
