Feeling Accomplished!

in needleworkmonday •  6 years ago  (edited)

This was a productive week of knitting. The Margaret Beaufort sweater is done except for buttons (need to find just the right ones) and here it is:

I also finished some worsted slipper socks from the book Knit Your Socks on Straight. Though I am quite comfortable with the traditional double-pointed needles in the round construction, I find it interesting (as a trained engineer) to try the other sock knitting methods. Having tried magic loop, two at a time, and several other methods, I now have done these socks on flat needles with a seam done in crocheted slip stitch:

Next week I start a new adventure teaching a class of middle school-age girls to knit on round looms. We will see how that goes!

I loved both of the projects. Very pretty. Keep up the great work.

You definitely seem to have had a very productive week! I find it so hard to do anything in this heat...

The socks seem really comfy :)
All the best with your class!

The sweater is fabulous, I love the slightly vintage vibes it has with the neat seams and the neckline.
With socks.... So far I still haven't tried to knit socks, but I made some crochet ones. And my problem is, I am always bored with the second one :-DDD

Yes, the dreaded "second sock" syndrome. I never quite manage to make them identical, but take solace in the fact that our own 2 feet are not identical, either. I feel the same way about second sleeves, but it must be done as long as I have 2 arms. :)

Oh yes (double yes) I think I have already three jackets and one pullover laying around which await their second sleeve.... :-DDD But I was brave and attacked the pullover-sleeve yesterday

Very nice sweater and socks. I like the textured bottom of the sweater @fiberfrau. What stitch is that? And I like the colors for both. The socks look really striking :)

Wow, they came out great! Good job!!! ♥

Both projects look amazing! I love that pattern at the bottom of the sweater! 😮 What's it called?
Are the socks comfy with the seam? I might have to try that one. I tried socks once and got stuck on the turning heel part. 😂

The pattern on the sweater is just knits and purls forming triangles. As for the socks, the seam is off-center and has been perfectly comfortable.
