#Needleworkmonday - christmas catch up

in needleworkmonday •  7 years ago

Hi everyone - its been a while since ive spent much time on steemit - life and work have been super busy, but 2018 brings a fresh start and hopefully more free time for crafting.

Im not making new years resolutions, but in 2018 i definitely want to do more on my sewing machine and have a go at quilting. MIL gave me lots of fat quarters in my xmas box so lots to work with.

For the first needlework monday of 2018 i want to share my wee collection of christmas makes. I should hopefully have some wonderful shares as we go through the year, because the other half got me a few new crochet books - kerry lords birds collection and crochet animal heads :) watch this space.

Anyways, will keep it short and sweet - hope you all like my pictures - if there are any questions about the patterns etc, just drop me a message. Happy new year to all and i hope its a crafty 2018!

Much love xxx

Holy Crap those penguins are so cute! Welcome back to Steemit!!

Thanks bedoodle!! They are the cutest wee things :) so easy to make and minimal sewing so perfect crochet pattern in my eyes :)

Okay, so the penguins are to die for and those mittens are pretty adorable too. Welcome back and I hope to see more of your work.

Your penguins are sooo cute. I made a similar one in black/white...always so traditional..that's me...but I really like the whimsical touch of colour on yours!

Thanks anise! Yeh i tend to crochet with whatever colours i have, some sometimes nit so traditional :)

The penguins are awesome!!! FYI I like penguins in general.. lol. Thanks for sharing (O:

Thanks vilmore :) penguins always look great in crochet :) some of the patterns in one of my new books are different penguin species and made to look realistic so will post them up when i get round to making them 😁

Hey there lady!! I have really missed you on here. I mentioned you in my #NeedleworkMonday post a couple of weeks ago. I knew you had been busy with your business and I just really missed hearing from you! I am so glad to see your work today. Those little penguins and mittens are the cutest!!! I look forward to seeing more of what you’ve been up to. So glad to have you back!! 😘

Helloooo missus! Thanks for your sweet words :) its nice to be back! I finally have a new boss at full time work, so the pressure is off a bit! Good start to 2018 :) happy you like my xmas bits and bobs - these were nice little projects to do on days off! Anyways, nice to hear from you - i saw you are trying your hand at knitting! Im sure anything you make will look beautiful. Speak soon lovely xx

You are so welcome! I am so glad some of the pressure has lifted off you.

Yes I am trying my hand at knitting. I didn’t really like how the chunky yarn was looking with the big needles so I went and got smaller needles and will use a regular size yarn. I’ll be posting about how that’s turning out in a few weeks. It is fun learning something new but I don’t think I will ever be as comfortable with knitting as I am with crocheting...only time will tell :) Thank you for always encouraging me~ 💕

Im kinda the same, although i started out knitting, then moved to crochet because i find it faster. Plus its ways easier to fix mistakes in crochet i think. I hate frogging knitting! Yeh i think the fine needles are easier to work with and at least you can see your stitches clearly once youve made your piece :) good luck!

Thank you! Yes I have already started over with that same piece several times because I don’t understand yet how to fix my mistakes when knitting. It was getting very frustrating. It is much easier fixing crochet errors.
