Hi Needleworkers!

I am so happy to be posting one more time for 2018.

I recently moved. It was a move I had been anticipating for years, but hadn’t realized I was going to make just yet.

When the time came,I made sure I had my basics ... my three kids. I figured I’d figure everything else out. And figured I have!

I sure am missing my assortment of yarn and hooks and darning needles.

Today I’m sharing my first project from my new apartment. It was a garland for my Christmas tree. I made it using a bamboo crochet hook, and yarn from a random bag of leftovers one of my moms friends gifted me.

I do not recommend or endorse this particular bamboo crochet hook. The lightweight design makes me feel like I’m working with a tiy hook and sometimes it snags in the material.

I should probably share that I don’t have a couch yet and that The Christmas Tree was obtained before beds ... Still, it was Christmas Time and the kids really seemed to enjoy piling up on an air mattress and turning on their Christmas Tree instead of a tv.

The decorations for our tree were plenty and homey enough since they were leftovers from my moms house and anything from moms house feels homey. Still, I wanted something for my tree that screamed “Metzli!”

So I made a garland using a simple chain stitch and fluffy yarn.

I loved the result, and it sure did make me feel... home.

Here is a close up of my work:

And then a picture of a fairy dress that ALWAYS somehow makes it on my tree.

Moving house is stressful and I cannot imagine how to organize this with three kids. I hope you now get some time to relax and to adapt to the new space.
I love your tree and the little crochet elements are beautiful (especially the little dresses)
I wish you all the best for the new year <3 <3

I was homesick and moved back to the city I grew up in so organization was SUPER easy just very busy. I’ve been getting into the idea of whistling while you work and it’s awesome. It also makes the relaxing time that much more relaxing.

Thank you for the compliments and well wishes. May your 2019 be amazing too ❤️

Hey!

Thanks for the recognition 🎈🥳❤️

Oh wow! I love this.
You did the post I didn't get around to doing!
We moved a week before Christmas. My daughters bed came after Christmas, her old mattress is still serving as a couch.
We (I) had to have a REAL Christmas tree for all the other crazy to be okay . I couldn't find any real tree's anywhere, but a friend of mine came through. We always had a tiny plastic one, I wanted that authentic smelling pine.
I crocheted a star and little stockings for each person. Most of our decorations are home made and have memories attached to them.

The tree was pretty much the only thing in the room. You can see the old red cushion from the couch that didn't make it.
