Ultimate Crochet: the Shamrock

@foxyspirit regularly holds a crochet contest, the 'Ultimate Crochet Contest'. Current topic (closing next Monday) is the approaching St. Patrick's Day. I enjoy crocheting and choosing something on a theme is also fun - so I browsed through patterns. It was a quick decision: it should be a four-leaf cloverleaf. There were also many of them, finally the choice fell on this pattern.

But that was only the first part: which yarn this time? Somehow nothing fit this pattern. It was like "I have nothing to wear!" ;) First I bought a nice dark green cotton yarn (you can never have enough of them), but then a yarn fell into my hands that had been a gift. The German speaking DACH-Discord had a Secret Santa last christmas and this yarn was in the package from @losi. What could be more fitting than to take a yarn for a competition on Steem that I only got through the blockchain? And if you squeeze your eyes a bit, the colour is almost like the mint tone of Steemit.

You could do it as an application on a jacket or a hat or simply on St. Patricks Day attach it with a safety pin to your bag or coat.

Cowl

As you can see on the picture above the cowl is almost finished. Only two or three centimeters and then "only" the sewing is to be done. The knitted fabric is folded up and the cast-on edge is cast off together with the stitches. I have only done this once with a sweater to close the shoulder seams - to do this with the 220 stitches of the cowl will probably be very boring. I will try to make a bit every day so it will be finished next Monday.

Sock

I made only little progress with my sock. I plan to test the heel with double knitting here - I haven't bought the pattern yet because I want to finish the cowl first. Right now the pattern is still on my Wish List at Ravelry. I know myself: if I have something new to try out the current projects are immediately forgotten! So: more about this maybe next week :)

Also: mehr dazu vielleicht nächste Woche :)

What's on my needles

The Estuary shawl grew a bit. I used up 25 g so far, only 5 g still my last progress report. Well, soon it will be too warm for a woolen shawl - there's time till next winter ;)

I'm testing a pattern for some yarn that was gifted to me - more about that next week, too.

Here it is already much to warm. We had 17 degrees and upwards in the sun. I think this is strange weather although the sun is nice for the mood.
And the „nothing to wear“ yarn problem I know too well :-DD I could instantly sympathise. But your choice is perfect, the light green is very fitting for spring.
And yoursock is still beautiful, I loooove the multiple colours.

That's a very pretty little shamrock 😎 I understand the nothing to wear yarn situation, I'm better with the yarn and then decide what I want to make :) I've also discovered I'm happier looking in the sales bin - not just the lower price, but a more restricted choice too.
I like the cowl, very delicate, it will be nice to see it finished 😊

All work looks very beautiful! I'm waiting to see them finished :)

I like how quickly the shamrock can be made. That looks like my type of project. Quick, easy and cute.

The shamrock is so cute and the color is really nice! Your cowl is coming along quite well, keep at it! 😉

Beautiful four leaf clover @muscara!! And love the look of your projects currently, the cowl looks so pretty :)

You can't go on celebrating St-Patty's day without the 4 leaf clover!

Definitely beautifully made. A great choice too. It has a nice motion to it, kind of like when looking at a painting and you see that there is wind. LOL I'm bad at explaining things.
Well done! I am loving it. Thank you for entering the crochet contest :)

I also thought that shamrock would make a lovely decor element like a brooch for Patrick's Day.

I find that the best way to tackle those projects is doing a little every day, like you say, if you do a little every day, you'll be finished soon :DDD
