The drama of sewing a woven fabric skirt - needleworkmonday

Suggestion: tightening the waist and wearing the skirt up higher. It could be that it’s hanging too low to your hips and may be more flattering at your waist.
🤔
My elastic waist skirts are ridiculously easy to make and always look good, but when i go for something involved like the one i blogged about, it’s a mess.
I love woven fabric.

I am a wimp with the waist 😂 When I wear things at my natural waist I really fast get a kind of belly ache/ or just feel uncomfortable. Besides I have a extreme short torso 40 cm /15,5 inch (we took my measurements last week, because a friend of mine thought about building a dress form) A dress at my waist is not too flattering, sadly. I mostly pull my skirts down and now as I get older this looks even stranger because I get a belly 😂
Do you have a formula for your skirts? I for example can sew a half circle skirt in jersey with an elastic waist which will fit, but every other form of skirt ... sigh... I still was not successful with this.

My go-to skirt is to use selvage as the waist with elastic or drawstring and hem the bottom. Sew up the side and there we go!
I’m so lazy. Whenever i try anything fancy, it’s a ripper or dust collector.
I empathize with body criticism. As i get older, it’s all about hiding instead of exhibiting. 🙃 always remember to love the you that you are.
