Needleworkmonday: Crochet mask for the little one

Since last Saturday, one of the Philippines' active volcanoes started showing activity. I live very far away from where it is soI just see it in my Facebook feed and in the news. The photos I see are both very beautiful and highly terrifying. Mt. Taal looks really small on the surface but I read that it's really huge underneath the lake.

Come Sunday evening, ash fall started at our place which is a hundred (or more) kilometers away from the volcano. Which is why face masks also started to have a high demand. Yesterday, I went out to buy some N95 mask but then anywhere I go, they're all sold out.

Then I figured those masks won't actually fit my daughter since she's only 3 years old. It so happened that I have a 6ply indophil yarn so I thought of crafting one face mask for my kid.

So in just a couple of hours and a few game of tag with the kid - who said she didn't want the mask, I made it. I'll just out in 2 sheets of wet wipes or tissue between her face and the mask if we need to go out. She's loving the mask. She says she's a doctor.

Right now I'm just waiting for updates from the news for whatever's coming. One of the videos I watched said that Taal had errupted for 6 long months in the 1700s. It has also errupted in the 1900s where the casualties were massive. According to the recent news updates, all the neighboring villages within the volcano has been evacuated. We hope and pray for the safety of all the families and animals living in there.
