Hi guys, happy #needleworkmonday to you all. I am eager to see amazing new arts and be inspired. I am positive that this week just as every other #needleworkmonday week will have its own share of fun, innovations and excitement.
Well, this week I'm bringing a little bit of theory to the fore. These pictures are some of the notes I take on how to sew some designs that I'm not familiar with.
I learn how to make different designs in various ways: YouTube, sewing books , I also learn in person from those who are good in their sewing and from already made materials that I get.
I remember my baby stage very early stage when I pretty much didn't know how to sew a rope anything at all, there was a girl in my area and she was so much younger than I was and she was really good at sewing. When I see her make dresses my eyes would go round the size of saucers like the eyes of cartoon characters like almost literally.
She made all the dresses she ever wore and I used to wish then that I could learn even a simple rope. I'd go to her to clarify me on some techniques I'm having issues with and the ease with which she did it then always marveled me.
So since then I started taking notes and drawing how I want my dresses to look. I didn't take lesson on sketching so I'm a bit reluctant embarrased to show my funny scribbles lol .
By this post I want us to know be reminded that we all have to start somewhere. It just takes one push, one step. I'm not where I want to be in my sewing but every mistake, every lesson, every drawing funny sketch, every style definitely feels like a step forward. When we get to where we want to be then we find a new height to attain and on the fulfillment goes. I wish us all the fulfilment that comes from making efforts!

It is fascinating to see how you designed your projects. It is such a good ability to being able to understand the construction of garments. I always think I should learn this too, because it really helps to avoid mistakes (which I fairly often make :-D)
Your skript looks like a notebook from an artist with so many projects which are waiting to be carried out.

Making notes is such a great idea. My problem is reading them later. They always make sense to me when I'm writing them but not so much 6 months later!

Lol! With your beautiful crocheting skills I'm sure that all you need to do is take a look at the design and it sticks with you, so you might not need notes afterall😉

I think it’s really amazing that you can draw out your designs and achieve them. I would love to do that for my crocheting but as of right now following patterns is what I have the time for. This is very inspiring and encouraging and I thank you sharing this with us :)

You do beautiful work, and I like your reminder that all of us have to start with those baby steps. I'm also glad I'm not the only one with pages of scribbles from thinking through and figuring out ideas :) although I have the exact same problem @anise mentions! I've found pages from designing a quilt and wondered "what the heck was this?"

Thanks @mtnmeadowmomma🙂, yeah I forgot sometimes , that's why I try to get to work sooner than later if I can help it and not procrastinate.

Wow, such a thourough note on a certain project. I always fail making one because usually I find it difficult to read my own handrwiting. Lol.
